The short answer
There is no aCar app for iPhone: aCar is only on Android. To keep your history, export your records from aCar as a CSV file and import that file into CarStamp on your iPhone. CarStamp recognizes aCar's export, so fill-ups, services and expenses come over with their dates, mileage and costs, without mapping any columns. Importing is free.
I make CarStamp, so read this with that in mind.
CarStamp is free for one car, with no account: download it on the App Store or see what's free.
Step by step
- On your Android phone, in aCar: export your records as a CSV file. aCar calls it its Excel compatible CSV export. Choose the CSV export, not aCar's backup file.
- Get the file to your iPhone: email it to yourself, or save it to Google Drive, Dropbox or any place your iPhone can open, then save it to Files.
- On your iPhone: get CarStamp from the App Store, open it and add your car. A name is enough to begin. Reading this on your Android phone? Search for CarStamp in the App Store on your iPhone.
- Import: open the car's overview and tap Import from CSV…, then pick the file. If the file holds several cars, CarStamp asks which one to import.
- Check and import: look over the preview and the categories, then import.
To bring several cars over, add each car in CarStamp and import the same file again, choosing the next car. The details are on the support page, under Importing from another app.
What comes over
- Fill-ups: the date, odometer, amount of fuel, price per unit, total cost and the fuel station, with partial fill-ups kept as partial, so fuel use is worked out correctly.
- Services: the date, odometer, what was done (for example "Oil Change, Tire Rotation"), the cost and the shop.
- Expenses: parking, insurance, tolls and the rest, each with its date and cost.
- Units: miles or kilometers and gallons or liters are read from the file, and amounts keep their value even when aCar wrote them with a currency sign.
What you get on iPhone
Your aCar history arrives in an app built for iPhone, iPad and Mac:
- Fuel and charging, services and expenses in one place, with services line by line: every part, part number and labor line.
- Reminders for maintenance by date or mileage, and for renewals such as insurance, inspection and registration.
- Insights: what the car costs a year, a month and a mile or km, and its average fuel use.
- No account, no ads, no data collected. Your records stay on your devices; with Pro they sync across iPhone, iPad and Mac through your own iCloud.
- Hand Over to New Owner: when you sell the car, the next owner gets its whole history as a file.
Questions about aCar on iPhone
Is there an aCar app for iPhone?
No. aCar is only available on Android. On iPhone, CarStamp can import aCar's CSV export, so your fill-ups, services and expenses come with you.
Can I use aCar's backup file on iPhone?
CarStamp reads aCar's CSV export rather than its backup file. In aCar, choose the CSV (Excel compatible) export, then import that file into CarStamp.
Will my fuel economy history still be right?
Yes. Every fill-up comes over with its odometer reading and amount, and partial fill-ups stay marked as partial, so CarStamp works out your fuel use from the same records aCar had.
Does importing from aCar cost anything?
No. Importing is free, and CarStamp is free for one car, with unlimited records.
