The story behind CarStamp

It started with a folder of invoices. The developer bought a used car from its first owner, and it came with every dealership invoice for every repair and service, plus a service book stamped at each visit.

He built his own spreadsheet in Numbers: one sheet for the car's details (VIN, engine number, paint code, warranty start) and one for every service, line by line, with the mileage, part numbers, quantities, prices and discounts. He typed in the previous owner's paper invoices, then each new one after his own visits to the dealership. But that was all it had. Fuel consumption, insurance, car washes and everyday costs were nowhere in it, so he never really knew what the car cost. And whenever he needed the comprehensive insurance policy or the registration certificate, it wasn't at hand.

He couldn't find one app that kept all of it in one place the way he wanted, so he built one. The name comes from that service book: the workshop's stamp is the proof the work was done. CarStamp is that stamp for the whole life of the car, and when the car is sold, the history goes with it to the next owner.

Less typing. After copying every invoice by hand, he wanted the camera to do that part: scan a receipt and CarStamp reads it on the device, and Scan Odometer reads the mileage from the dashboard on iPhone and iPad.

At home on every device. On iPhone, first of all, a fill-up is logged in seconds at the pump, with quick actions on the app icon and Scan Odometer. Then its own layout on iPad, iPhone Duo folded and open, a window in your space on Apple Vision Pro, and a Mac app with menus and tables.

Long description

CarStamp is a private car log for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Vision Pro, made by an independent developer in Bulgaria. Also on Android phones and tablets. It keeps a car's whole story in one place: fill-ups and charging, from gasoline and LPG to electric and plug-in hybrid; itemized services, as on the invoice; every expense; the mileage; and reminders for maintenance and renewals such as insurance, inspection and registration, by date or distance. It works in any country, in miles or kilometers and any currency, with suggested renewals for 30 countries. No account, no ads, no analytics: the data stays on the device, and with sync in the owner's own iCloud, or Google Drive on Android; receipts are read on the device. When the car is sold, its history can go to the next owner as a file they open in CarStamp. It is free for one car; CarStamp Pro adds more cars, sync (iCloud, or Google Drive on Android) and a service history PDF.

Key features

• Fuel and charging. Gasoline, diesel, LPG, CNG, hydrogen, electric and plug-in hybrids, even two fuels in one car, with fuel use worked out for each fuel.
• Services line by line. Parts with their brand, part number and where they were bought, labor and the workshop, as on the invoice, or marked as done yourself.
• Every expense. Recurring costs such as insurance or a lease are added on their day.
• Maintenance and renewals. The maintenance plan, inspection, insurance and registration or road tax, with reminders by date or distance. Mark Done or Renew straight from the notification.
• Receipts and the odometer, read on the device. Scan a receipt and CarStamp reads it. Scan Odometer reads the mileage from the dashboard with the camera on iPhone and iPad.
• Insights. Spending, cost per mile or km and fuel economy, by month and by category, with the biggest expenses.
• Documents. Registration, insurance and license with their expiration dates and reminders.
• Any country. Miles or kilometers; liters, US or imperial gallons, or kWh; any currency, even several in one car. Suggested renewals for cars registered in 30 countries, a general set elsewhere, and custom renewals.
• The history goes with the car. Hand Over to New Owner sends the buyer the car's history as a file they open in CarStamp, and sending it is free. With Pro, a service history PDF to share, save or print.
• Your data, your way. Import from other car apps or a CSV file; backup, restore and CSV export are free.
• Made for each device. Quick actions on the app icon on iPhone and iPad, and in the Dock on Mac. Ready for iPhone Duo, folded and open. On Apple Vision Pro it opens as a window in your space. With Pro: iCloud sync, Siri and Shortcuts, and widgets on iPhone, iPad and Mac.

Pricing

Free for one car, for good. Unlimited records, every reminder, documents with expiration dates, 10 receipt reads to start, Scan Odometer, insights for this month, the last 3, 6 or 12 months, this year and last year, import, backup, export and Hand Over to New Owner. No ads and no time limit.

Prices as of October 2026; other countries see the App Store's price in their own currency.

CarStamp Pro adds more cars and iCloud sync; Detailed Insights for every period, with each tank, price history, the cost of ownership, the year ahead and comparing cars; unlimited receipt reading; photos and files on records and documents; the service history PDF; Siri and Shortcuts; widgets; part history, workshop history and tire sets; calendar sync; renewals paid in installments; and alternate app icons.

If Pro ends, nothing is deleted. Every car, record, document and reminder stays and keeps working.

Privacy

• No account and no sign-in.
• No ads, no analytics, no tracking.
• The data stays on the device and, with sync turned on, in the owner's own iCloud, or Google Drive on Android. The app uses no servers of the developer's, and the developer never sees the data.
• Receipts and the odometer are read on the device.
• Purchases go through Apple or Google Play.
• App Store privacy label: Data Not Collected. Google Play Data safety: No data collected.
