The short answer
CarStamp is the only app of the eight here with its own iPhone, iPad and Mac apps, and it keeps fuel and charging, services line by line, expenses and renewals such as insurance, inspection and registration with no account, no ads and the App Store label Data Not Collected. It runs on Apple Vision Pro too.
I make CarStamp, so it comes first here; read this with that in mind. CarStamp's details are my own; the facts about the other apps come from their App Store pages, checked on October 16, 2026.
CarStamp is free for one car, with no account: download it on the App Store or see what's free.
At a glance
| App | iPad | Mac | Account | App Store privacy label |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| CarStamp | Own iPad app | Own Mac app | None | Data Not Collected |
| Fuelio | iPhone app, enlarged | iPhone app on Apple silicon | None | Data Not Linked to You |
| Drivvo | Own iPad app | iPad app on Apple silicon | Drivvo account for records and sync | Data Used to Track You |
| Fuelly | iPhone app, enlarged | iPhone app on Apple silicon | For online sync | Data Not Collected |
| Road Trip MPG | Separate app (Road Trip HD) | None | None | Data Not Collected |
| CARFAX Car Care | Own iPad app | None | CARFAX account | Data Used to Track You |
| My Car | Own iPad app | iPad app on Apple silicon | For cloud sync | Data Linked to You |
| Car Cave | iPhone app, enlarged | iPhone app on Apple silicon | None | Data Not Linked to You |
"iPhone app, enlarged" means the app has no iPad layout and runs as a scaled-up iPhone app. "iPhone app on Apple silicon" means the Mac runs the iPhone or iPad app as it is; none of the seven other apps has a Mac app of its own.
Switching from another app?
CarStamp reads the exports of Fuelio, Drivvo, Fuelly, aCar and Road Trip without mapping columns, and any other CSV file, so your fill-ups, services and expenses come with you. Importing is free; the switching guide shows where each app keeps its export.
The apps, one by one
CarStamp
CarStamp keeps the complete record of a car: fuel and charging (gasoline, diesel, LPG, CNG, hydrogen, electric and plug-in hybrid, even two fuels in one car), services with every part, part number and labor line, expenses, mileage, and the renewals a car has, with a reminder before each one. When you add a car it suggests the usual renewals for 30 countries, from registration and inspection in the U.S. to the MOT in the U.K. It is built for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Vision Pro, each with its own layout.
It needs no account, shows no ads and collects no data; records stay on your devices, and Pro syncs them across iPhone, iPad and Mac through your own iCloud. It is free for one car with unlimited records, every reminder, backup, CSV export and Hand Over to New Owner, which gives the next owner the car's whole history as a file. CarStamp Pro adds more cars, iCloud sync, detailed insights, widgets and a service history PDF to share with a buyer. It imports Fuelio, Drivvo, Fuelly, aCar and Road Trip exports without mapping columns.
Fuelio
Fuelio, from Sygic, is a fuel log first: every fuel type including electric and bi-fuel cars, a Home Screen widget and CSV import and export. It needs no account and shows no ads, and backs up to iCloud Drive. It has no iPad layout and no app built for the Mac.
Drivvo
Drivvo logs refuelings, charging, services, expenses, income and routes, with reminders by date or mileage. Its FAQ says records are kept with a Drivvo account.
Fuelly
Fuelly is built around gas mileage and the Fuelly.com community, with service reminders, photo and PDF attachments and online sync to Fuelly.com. It has no iPad layout.
Road Trip MPG
Road Trip MPG is a fuel and trip log with no ads. It tracks fuel economy, electric charging, services with reminders, expenses and trips, and syncs through iCloud or Dropbox. On iPad it is a separate app, Road Trip HD, and it has no Mac version.
CARFAX Car Care
CARFAX Car Care is built for U.S. drivers: it gathers service records reported by repair shops, sends recall and service alerts, estimates repair costs and shows your car's value. It uses a CARFAX account. It has an iPad app but no Mac app.
My Car
My Car, from KineApps, logs fuel, charging, services, expenses and trips.
Car Cave
Car Cave is a maintenance log: services with reminders by date or mileage, receipt scanning and iCloud sync, with no login. It is built for maintenance rather than fuel, and it has no iPad layout.
Which should you pick?
- A car log with its own iPad and Mac apps: CarStamp.
- No account, no ads and no data collected: CarStamp. Fuel, services line by line, expenses, renewals and documents, all in one private place.
- Insurance, inspection and registration reminders in the same app as fuel and services: CarStamp.
- Selling the car one day: CarStamp, for Hand Over to New Owner (free) and the service history PDF with receipts (Pro).
- Moving from Fuelio, Drivvo or Fuelly: CarStamp imports their export, free, without mapping columns.
How I checked
Devices, accounts and privacy labels come from each app's U.S. App Store page on October 16, 2026; features come from each app's own description there. The privacy labels are what each developer reports to Apple. "Own iPad app" means the App Store lists the app for iPad; "Own Mac app" means a Mac version built for the Mac.
Left out on purpose: aCar, which is Android only (see moving your aCar history to iPhone); Simply Auto, last updated in March 2022; AUTOsist, a fleet product; and business mileage trackers such as MileIQ and TripLog, which log trips for taxes rather than the car's upkeep.
Questions about car maintenance apps
Which car expense and maintenance apps have a Mac app?
CarStamp. Of the eight apps here, it is the only one built for the Mac. Fuelio, Drivvo, Fuelly, My Car and Car Cave run their iPhone or iPad app on Macs with Apple silicon; Road Trip MPG and CARFAX Car Care are not available on the Mac.
Which car maintenance app has no account, no ads and collects no data?
Of the eight apps here, CarStamp and Road Trip MPG need no account, show no ads and carry the App Store label Data Not Collected; CarStamp also has its own iPad and Mac apps.
Which car apps work without an account?
CarStamp, Fuelio, Road Trip MPG and Car Cave work without an account. Drivvo keeps records with a Drivvo account, CARFAX Car Care uses a CARFAX account, and Fuelly and My Car use one for their online sync.
Can I move my records from one app to another?
Usually, through a CSV export. CarStamp reads the exports of Fuelio, Drivvo, Fuelly, aCar and Road Trip without mapping columns, and any other CSV file; see Importing from another app.
